American General Construction - Chief Estimator
Mr. Hitt worked his way up to the Chief Estimator position bidding on all types of construction projects as well as overseeing the bids of the estimating team. Follow up responsibilities included assembling and overseeing work crews on all successful bids, with heavy customer contact. Mr. Hitt also worked with Managed Response, Inc (MRI) for the first time in 2001 and 2002, as an estimator with the damage assessment team where he measured and drew the projects to scale and built the scope in the Xactimate estimating software program.

Spirit Drilling Fluids, Drill–Chem, Dynamic Drilling Fluids - Fluid Engineer
Mr. Hitt served as a fluid engineer for clearwater workover systems, water-base fluid systems and oil-base fluid systems. This position consisted of writing daily drilling fluid chemical recipes for each 12-hour tour, monitoring various 15-20 different types of chemicals, viscosity thickening agents and weighting material on location, being sure not to run out. During his time in the oil and gas industry he worked all over Texas including the Permian Basin, the Eagle Ford Shale, Austin Chalk, South, East and Southeast Texas, including High Temperature High Pressure (HTHP) wells and in South Louisiana, south of I-10 where some of the most difficult drilling conditions in the United States exists. Mr. Hitt became the Arkansas Engineering Manager for Drill-Chem in 2007 where he wrote engineering protocols, managed personnel and trained new fluid school graduates.

Managed Response, Inc. - Director of Construction
Mr. Hitt started with Managed Response, Inc. (MRI) as a Project Manager in April 2016. His duties included preparing budget and cost estimates, schedules, qualify and selecting subcontractors and managing their work responsibilities as well as collaborating with engineers, architects and other workers on a project. In addition, Mr. Hitt’s responsibilities include complying with safety and building codes as well as legal requirements, meeting with clients and owners to report project progress and budgeting and to also explain contract and technical matters. Mr. Hitt has also spent time developing relationships with various property owners and management companies including presenting “Lunch and Learn” seminars. His years of experience in the field and continuing education courses have contributed to his current position as Manager of Construction.
• Luxury Mid-Rise Condominium with Water Damage & Wood Rot
Jackson Place Condominium suffered structural damage, stucco damage, and metal corrosion. Mr. Hitt was the Project Manager of record and managed the repair of the flashing, sheathing, and stucco of specific units. His crews removed and replaced the architectural feature band around the perimeter of the building, repaired the corroded and damaged metal windscreen frames and replaced missing breezeway security metal. Removal and replacement of the caulking of all the roof penetrations, windows and walls of entire building was also performed, ensuring a tighter building envelope to prevent future rot damage.
• Construction Defect Repair & Restoration of Balconies at Luxury Townhouse Community
2800 Polk Avenue, a luxury townhouse community had failing balcony decks due to poor building practices and awnings experiencing failure modes related to water retention and subsequent corrosion. MRI performed a professional engineering evaluation and re-designed the work to ensure that the waterproofing details were designed in a code-compliant and functional manner. MRI repaired 64 balconies by removing the lightweight concrete and replacing it with new 1-1⁄8” plywood and adding a Westcoat Speciality Coatings waterproofing system and approved flashings. MRI replaced 46 failing steel awnings with lighter weight aluminum awnings, which improved the awnings water shedding ability and reduced corrosion failure potential.
Inner Loop Condominium – Repairing and Waterproofing Balconies
A three-story condominium complex had poorly waterproofed balconies and deteriorated structural members. MRI managed the structural design and the repair of the structural components as well as the waterproofing of the balcony floors.
• Takeover Renovation of a Houston Luxury Home
MRI took over a renovation of a multimillion-dollar home on Memorial Drive after the original contractor failed to meet the client’s standards. This project consisted of managing the demolition and installation of exotic wood floors and tile, custom cabinetry work, shower and tub surround wall tile and waterproofing. We also managed the removal and installation of a steam unit in the master bathroom, demolition and installation of shower glass, removed and replaced blown-in insulation, interior framing repairs and sheetrock repair and floating to a level four finish. Other work including taping, texturing and painting all the interior sheetrock, wood accent walls and trim, painting the exterior and waterproofing work.
• Construction Defect Repair & Restoration
Versante Champions, a luxury townhome community had failing balcony decks and rotten structural members due to poor building practices. MRI managed the replacement of 88 balconies which included the following: qualified and solicited competitive lump sum subcontractor bids, scheduled the work, prepared a budget of estimated costs and controlled the final costs. MRI also provided engineering, waterproofing design protocol, code upgrades and permitting, demolition, proper waterproofing repair and structural damage repair.
